Some notes for the initial Linux HOWTO session.
Bits and Pieces
- CD Covers for the Ubuntu CDs that Joel is bringing. Joel, do you have covers for these? Paper sleeves? If not, can you get them or do you need someone else to get them? [done Joel has taken care of this].
- Certificates. Are we planning on handing out a certificate at the end of the workshop? If so, is there a local color printer that can handle this. Enough ink? Do we need to get proper paper for this or is it available locally? [pending]
- Any other supplies? [pending]
- Are we planning on printing the workshop presentations and/or exercises? If so, do we have enough paper? Is there a local printer ready and set up for this? For 35 students over 5 days expect several thousand sheets (2 boxes?). [pending]
- Classroom setup. Will the classroom have access to the net? I saw the IP address range sent to the PacNOG list (202.65.42.0/24). Will we give our PCs public IPs? I like that as it's more "real world".
- Classroom NOC box. We will definitely need a separate box set aside to act as a server for the classroom. I just wanted to make sure that one is set aside for us to use. [in process Joel has offered to bring something]
- Printer - where will it be located? Ideally not in the classroom (too noisy), but available on the network. [pending]
- Wireless network. Will there be one for attendees and instructors to use at the venue? [in process Joel has offered two APs]
- Name badges. I imagine instructors/presenters get something. What about workshop participants? It's not necessary, but it's nice. [pending]
